APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

A compelling application should consider the following:

Predicted Results

  • Used in place of final exam grades
  • Obtained from teachers
  • Crucial to meet the cut-off requirements of each university

Character Referee

  • Recommendation of your academic abilities
  • Ideally written by a recent teacher
  • You have to invite your teacher/counsellor via your unique CommonApps ID.

Curriculum Vitae

  • Also called a resume
  • One-page long
  • Provides an overview of academic and non-academic activities

Entrance Tests

  • SAT 1 , SAT 2 subject tests and APs are encouraged 
  • ACTs are an alternative 

CommonApps/Supp

  • Compulsory CommonApps and Supplementary Essays Prompts need to be completed
  • Should showcase one’s academic potential and zest to contribute to greater causes.

Alumni Interview

  • Required for specific U.S university courses
  • Used to determine interviewees aptitude and suitability for the specific university

HOW TO APPLY FOR U.S. UNIVERSITIES

Create a CommonApps Account​

Students who wish to enrol in a U.S university must create a CommonApps account.

CommonApps(which stands for the Common Application) is is a US non-profit organisation representing >900 US universities for their applications process.

The following tasks are performed through the CommonApps:

  • Applicants can submit their personal statements and portfolios
  • Applicants can affiliate their CommonApps account to their graduating school to facilitate testimonial submission

Select Your Desired University

Applicants can apply to as many colleges as they want. However, they will have to submit a compelling supplementary essay for every college. The essay has to be written for a specific university and course of study. QC will advise applicants on the appropriate college selection and assist in the personal statement brainstorming and editing.

SAT 1 and 2s are accepted by most universities and reflect the student’s command of the English language, maths and other subjects. SATs are however being phased out by APs (Advanced Placements). APs require more preparation from schools and the exams are during May/June.

Course 1. HeadStart Early Mentoring

Successful admissions to the most competitive schools require preparations from early years. Between 13-17 years old, students start to build their curriculum vitae and portfolio. This is a must to gain every advantage possible for top universities. QC’s headstart programme provides exposure to the applications process, specialised tests/interviews, and non-academic guidance for an outstanding portfolio (Olympiads, competitions, and essays.)

Course 2. Personal Statements Mentoring

 The main focus of this stage would be to select the appropriate colleges with the best chances of successful entry  conceptualise and finalise convincing Common apps personal statements.  On average, a candidate may need to write over 20 essays for 5 universities ( 1-5 essays for each university.). This can be challenging as the candidate has to complete 20 over demanding essays while preparing for their IB or AP exams.

Course 3. Entrance Assessments  

For certain students, they may have chosen to do the initial applications and personal statements by themselves. However, they may realise that the later specialised tests for Oxbridge and Ivy League are indeed herculean without expert guidance. Examples include ACT, AP, SATs, TOEFL and alumni interviews. The main focus this stage is to have our experienced experts guide our mentees safely towards a thorough preparation for the relevant tests with insider insights and customised curriculum.

Course 4. Admissions Interview 

Some students may have choose to do the initial applications and personal statements by themselves. But later realise that they need help with interviews for Oxbridge and Ivy League with an expert. The main focus this stage is to have our experienced experts guide our mentees safely towards a thorough preparation for interviews with simulated interview practice and body language correction.
