Application Requirements

Following the traditional rigorous Commonwealth system, universities in the U.K expects applicants to have a holistic portfolio which balances grades, extra-curricular activities and research.

Predicted Results

  • Used in place of final exam grades

  • Also called a resume
  • One-page long
  • Provides an overview of academic and non-academic activities

Specialised Tests

  • Required for specific courses

  • Examples: LNAT for Law, BMAT for Medicine, TSA for PPE

UCAS Personal Statement

  • Compulsory for all courses
  • Opportunity to make a good first impression
  • Should be 47 lines long with a 4,000 character limit

Interviews

  • Interviewees may be invited for 2-3 interviews

How to Apply

Create a UCAS Account

For students wishing to enrol in a U.K university, creating a UCAS account is a must.

UCAS (which stands for the universities and College Admissions Service) is a centralised service used by U.K universities to operate the applications process.

The following tasks are performed through the UCAS:

  • Applicants can submit their personal statements and portfolios
  • Applicants can affiliate their UCAS account to their graduating school to facilitate testimonial submission

Select Your Desired University

Applicants can only apply to a maximum of five colleges. There are a few ways applicants can arrange their choices.

  1. Applicant applies for five different courses at only one university.
  2. Applicant applies for the same course at five different universities.

For applicants submitting their applications to Oxford and Cambridge, they can only submit one application to one course of study.

For applicants applying into veterinary science, medicine or dentistry, they will only be able to submit four courses on UCAS

Application Timeline

This submission is specifically for applicants wishing to apply to Oxford and Cambridge University who wants to be interviewed in Singapore.

Applicants should have the following documents prepared and submitted by this date.

  • Education Qualifications
  • Personal Statement
  • Character Referee Letters

This submission is for two groups of applicants:

  1. Applicants wishing to apply to Oxford and Cambridge University who wants to be interviewed in the U.K.
  2. Applicants wishing to apply to Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Science, and Dentistry to other U.K universities

Applicants should have the following documents prepared and submitted by this date.

  • Education Qualifications
  • Personal Statement
  • Character Referee Letters

For specific courses, applicants will be required to sit for a specialised test. The test dates for the individual tests would vary, however, in general, they would all fall within the first week of November.

Some course specific test include:

  • BMAT for Medicine
  • LNAT for Law
  • Oxbridge Specific Entrance Tests

The grades obtained from these tests determines if an applicant would be shortlisted for an interview.

Shortlisted applicants of Oxford and Cambridge University would be invited for a few round of interviews around the first week of December.

These interviews are the final stage of the selection process. Here, applicants will be expected to demonstrate a deep understanding and knowledge of the subject they have chosen to major in.

This submission deadline is for applicants who are trying for:

  1. Other U.K universities
  2. Courses besides Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Science and Dentistry
